Glorious Acehnese Mosque in Lebuh Aceh, Malaysia.

Pardi Karliza (Acehnese researcher) is standing at Lebuh Achèh street name pole in Georgetown, Penang Island. There was where Acehnese mosque built gloriously in the location.

An Acehnese Mosque located in the center of Georgetown, Penang Island, was very heart-touching place to visit. It made me proud to be an Acehnese generation. The mosque was built by Tunku Syed Hussein Al-Idid, a politically influential Acehnese kingdom prince and rich merchant, in 1808 after his arrival in 1792. The Masjid Jamiek built with Moorish style (combinations between Indian, Egyptian, and Chinese styles) and roofed with Meru, not with a half square dome in usual. In the mosque’s yard, noble dead bodies of him and his family were buried.

Pardi Karliza (Acehnese researcher) posed in front of Masjid Jamiek Lebuh Acheh in Georgetown, Penang Island. The mosque built on donated land and fund of Tunku Syed Hussein Idid, a politically influential Acehnese kingdom prince and rich merchant, in 1808.

Now, the mosque is frequently visited by travelers from Aceh and foreign visitors. For the Acehnese people, this mosque was the evidence that Acehnese was a nation who was fond of donating their properties such as lands, jewelries, and other valuable wealth. The action done because we believe that there will be a good reward for moral conduct from Allah which are never reduced but increased if they are beneficial for human affairs. May Allah’s blessing and forgiveness are always given to Muttaqin and Mu’minin, Ameen.

He emotionally presented an Acehnese language song entitled “Gasèh Sayang Prang” literally means “Loving while in the Warfare”.  He wrote this song when struggling for an absolute Acehnese independence after being colonized for almost 5 decades by Javanese colonialism. He successfully depicted his emotions and feelings of being far away from his sweetheart while surviving in the battlefield in between death or life.            Gasèh Sayang Prang Han padok mata ka deüngon awan (The eyes are never blocked by the cloud) Di mata intan, gata dèüh sabéë (In my eyes, Oh sweetheart, you are always visible) Nan tèüh mèüsalôp lam jiwa badan (Your name is covered over my soul) Mèünan kèüh yum ban, gata di hatè (That is your excellence in my heart) Gata mèukéë sang-sang bulèuën trang (You are carved like the m
